Japanese Government Grant MEXT - 2017 - The Japanese government offers a full Monbukagakusho Scholarship program for international students to study bachelor's degrees at a Japanese university in the fields of social sciences, humanities and natural sciences.Duration of study:
5 years including Japanese language study. (7 years for medical, dental, pharmacy and veterinary)

(1) Social and Human Sciences
Social Sciences and Humanities: Law, Politics, Education, Sociology, Literature, History, Japanese Language, etc.


Social Sciences and Humanities: Economics, Business Administration.
(2) Natural sciences
(Mechanical Engineering, Marine Architecture), Civil Engineering and Architecture (Civil Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Engineering), Chemical Studies (Electrical, Electronic Engineering) (Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Textile Engineering) and other fields (Construction Engineering, Mining Engineering, Marine Engineering, Biotechnology). (1) Nationality: The applicant must be the nationality of a State that has diplomatic relations with the Japanese Government. This applies to such times for stateless persons, too. A student who holds Japanese nationality at the time of application will not be eligible. The applicant will be examined in the Japanese diplomatic mission in the country of nationality of the applicant (unless there are two or more countries from the same diplomatic mission).(2) Age: The applicant must have been born on or after April 2,1982.(3) Academic background: Applicants must be graduates of a Japanese university or have academic ability equal to or greater than those who graduated from the Japanese University. A person is considered to have an academic ability equal or superior to the one that graduated from university, if he / she is① Has completed or will finish in the school curriculum 16 years in a foreign country (or curriculum for 18 years if he / she wishes to enroll in a doctoral program in the field of medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or pharmacy which is founded in 6 years or college). or② He or she will be aged 22 years or over and pass the individual entrance qualification exam and have been judged by the Graduate School as being equally or excel in the academic ability of the university graduate (or 24 or more if he / she wishes to engage In a doctoral course in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or pharmacy founded on a department of 6 years or college).Note: Qualified applicants who meet or satisfy the qualification requirements for admission to the Japanese Graduate School are included.As a general rule, a person who completed a doctoral course may not apply except that he / she is seeking a degree.(4) Field of study specialization: The applicant must apply for the field of study he / she studied at the previous university or any other related field. The applicant must choose a field in which he / she can obtain an education and conduct research at the university of his / her choice.

 
(5) Japanese language: Applicant must be willing to learn Japanese, interested in Japan and passionate to deepen his / her understanding of Japan after arrival, able to engage in study and research while adapting himself / herself to life in Japan

 (6) Health: The applicant must be physically and mentally healthy enough to continue studying at the university.(7) Arrival in Japan: The applicant must be able to leave to communicate in Japan between 1 and 7 April 2017, or within two weeks of the deadline set by the receiving university for the beginning of the semester (in principle, in September or October). Travel expenses will not be provided if the applicant chooses to travel to Japan prior to this group period.

 
(8) Conditions for obtaining a visa: Applicants selected must obtain a college student (ryuugaku 留学) visa from the Japanese diplomatic mission in their country of nationality, in principle, prior to their arrival in Japan. The visa is to be issued by the Japanese diplomatic mission in the country of nationality of the applicant (unless there are two or more countries from the same diplomatic mission). Applicants who are already in Japan under a non-visa student visa are required to change to a college student visa by the end of the month preceding the start of the grant. Applicants who change their residency status to any other status of the Student College after their arrival in Japan will immediately lose their status as a student of the Japanese Government Grant.
